Yusen Logistics is the first Japanese airfreight forwarder at Kansai International Airport to be certified for IATA's Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma).
Yusen Logistics stated: “As a part of its strategy to turn Kansai International Airport into an international cargo hub, Kansai Airports is in the process of improving the quality of how it handles pharmaceutical products.
“They established the KIX Pharma Community, combined with joint CEIV Pharma certification, to provide even safer, high-quality pharmaceutical transportation in August 2017.
“We participate in the KIX Pharma Community, and our work with providing safe and high-quality services through quality control and operational improvements have now been rewarded with the achievement of IATA CEIV certification.”

Spanish carrier Air Europa is to offer a new global airfreight product under its own wing from November 1.
The airline's cargo service is currently outsourced, but it is now establishing its own Air Europa Cargo business.
The airline said that it will “directly manage a network of air cargo terminals and handling agents through the bases it operates from”.
It added that it hopes this change will provide new commercial opportunities for the carrier, a specialist in flying to Latin America.
As well as flying general cargo, Air Europa Cargo said that has adapted aircraft cargo holds to meet the requirements for transporting temperature-sensitive goods, such as fruit, pharmaceutical products and animals.
Air Europa operates a fleet of Boeing 787 ‘Dreamliner’ aircraft, Airbus A330s, B737-800s and Embraer 195s. Original link

Global Logistics System (HK) (GLS Hong Kong) has teamed up with Electronic Freight Data Interchange (EFDI) to distribute and support its EzyCargo cargo community platform in India.
EFDI provides connectivity to 79 international carriers, Indian Customs EDI System (ICES) and the US Automated Customs Environment (ACE).
Under the GLS deal, EFDI will provide sales and marketing functions to promote EzyCargo subscriptions to connect freight forwarders with airlines by means of digital cargo data exchange.
GLS’s EzyCargo is a Cloud-based application that enables e-booking, electronic air waybill data exchange, and track and trace of consignments over the Internet or via host-to-host connections.
There are currently nearly 1,000 EzyCargo subscribers in India.
Madhav Kulshreshtha, the managing director of EFDI, said: “We recognise the vast potential for electronic messaging and digitisation that a platform such as EzyCargo offers.”

Finnair Cargo has revealed a mixed picture after releasing its traffic figures for September and the first nine months of this year,.
In September, the Helsinki-based airfreight carrier carried 14,468.5 tonnes of freight, down by 4.8% on the same month of 2017.
In terms of traffic, the number of revenue tonne-km flown fell by 3.8% year on year to 91m.
With the available capacity having increased by 13.7% year on year to 142.7m tonne-km, the load factor fell by 7.8 percentage points to 63%.
Typhoon Jebi, which disrupted air cargo traffic for several weeks in the August-September period, especially in the Osaka area, had an adverse impact on the results, the carrier reports.
Cargo volumes have also fallen in comparison with last year’s figures because Finnair had rented cargo capacity from Japan Airlines during the previous period.
More positive figures were recorded on routes to the US.
