CGG speeds geoscience insights on Azure HPC

A leader in geosciences, CGG has been imaging the earth’s subsurface for more than 85 years. Their products and solutions help clients locate natural resources. CGG is a team of acknowledged imaging experts in the oil and gas industry. Their subsurface imaging centers are internationally acclaimed, and their researchers are regularly recognized with prestigious international awards for their outstanding technical contributions to the industry. From this data, highly detailed models can be made, like the following image showing the classification of rock types in a 3D grid for an unconventional reservoir interval. These images...

Leveraging SCP Neo Workflow from the SCP ABAP Environment

I recently worked on a project which gave me the opportunity to learn a little about Workflow on SAP Cloud Platform Neo as well as jump head first into SAP Cloud Platform, ABAP Environment(aka Steampunk).   My task on the project was to integrate an application running on Steampunk with Workflow running on SCP Neo.  Firstly, I have to say it just felt right working with ABAP again. Š  Very welcomed change to be honest.  Next, I found some very good resources on workflow which did help me through the process.  I found the tutorials on the developer center very helpful in getting me started with setting up Workflow on Neo. Christian’s zombie blog was definitely helpful as it shows an on-prem version of how to do this ABAP integration.    As most of you know, the Steampunk environment is a restricted version of an on-prem ABAP system, where you are only allowed...

Yes, You Can Outsource Digital Transformation - CMSWire

PHOTO: Shutterstock Contract workers have been a fixture in the IT employment universe for several years now — indeed, for many companies, most famously Google, contract workers outnumber full-time employees. About 32% of tech industry roles are now freelance, according to a report by Porch . Given that, is there a case to be made that digital transformation should be any different? According to Jason Bloomberg, president of Intellyx that answer should be yes. Digital transformation is a software-empowered, customer-driven business transformation where customer preferences and behavior drive enterprise technology decisions, he said. “As such, it is not a single technology project or even a collection of technology projects. The true effort behind digital transformation is organizational, and impacts how the business leverages technology, not the technology itself.” Therefore, if a company is leveraging contract resources for IT needs, such people are unlikely to have much or anything to do directly with the...
